There are four different types of food assistance programs offered through CLMCAA.

Descriptions and qualifications for registration for each program are listed below:

Congregate Meals

Who Qualifies: Anyone! 

How to register: No prior registration needed.

Where:  Meals are held at your local senior center

Cost: Suggested donation $3.00 for seniors 60+; $6.00 for non-senior guests

The Congregate Meal Program provides nutritious meals and nutrition education to older individuals in a congregate setting at most local Senior Centers.

In addition to the meals served, this program provides an opportunity for socialization and for obtaining information about other services and activities available in the area.

Congregate meals are available to anyone 60 years of age or better. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 per meal to help support the program. Those under the age of 60 are also welcome to enjoy the meals, however they are asked to pay the guest fee of $6.00 per meal.

Meals are most often served during lunchtime, however some senior centers may offer evening meals on certain days of the week.

Serving Chippewa, Luce and Mackinac counties, the Home Delivered Meal Program is designed to assist home-bound seniors in meeting their nutritional needs by delivering meals to their homes up to seven days a week.

CLMCAA serves over 100,000 hot, home delivered meals to eligible participants each year. Each meal is nutritious, tastes great, and is delivered to the home of a senior who is not able to leave their home under normal circumstances. There is no charge for this program, however participant donations are greatly appreciated and directly support the program. (The suggested donation per meal is $3.00)

To receive Home Delivered Meals, please contact one of the CLMCAA Nutrition Sites, which are listed here. Meals will begin immediately, however an in-depth assessment must be completed in the participant’s home to determine eligibility and develop a service plan.

(TEFAP) The Emergency Food Assistance ProgramTEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) provides food purchased by the United States Department of Agriculture for eligible low-income households in Chippewa, Luce and Mackinac Counties. Food is distributed two to four times per year at local senior centers. The food items change each time based on the availability of products. Some products distributed include: beans, rice, canned meats, vegetables, fruits, and flour. No card is needed but you will need to sign a form at distribution confirming your income eligibility.

The monthly income guidelines are as follows:

For each additional family member, please add $736.
