These programs are for individuals or families “but for” this one-time assistance will become or remain homeless. The ESG program is for renters who meet eligibility (income, fair market rent, etc.). Services can be accessed only once every grant year.
Applicants cannot own their own home or receive any type of rental subsidy (income based rent). This includes, but may not be limited to: HUD section 8 vouchers, MSHDA vouchers, or living in any type of income based rental housing.
ESG – Rapid Re-Housing
Rapid Re-Housing is a program to assist individuals or families who are currently experiencing homelessness. If eligible, the ESG program can provide assistance with: short-term leasing assistance, security deposit, and utility deposits.
ESG – Prevention
Prevention is for individuals and families who would be considered “at risk” of homelessness. If eligible, the ESG program can provide assistance if necessary with: rental arrearages, short-term leasing assistance, security deposit, and utility arrearages.
