Are you raising your grand kids or a loved one? Is someone in your family battling addiction? Are you overwhelmed, worried, stressed?
You’re not alone!
During this scary, uncertain time, please know that many others feel the same way
We may not be able to meet during the pandemic, but we are here for you and we’re just a phone call away if you need support or just need to talk.
Caring for loved ones can be challenging at any time but it is even more so when you are dealing with your own stress
We know and we can listen!
We are with you…together apart
Joe and Joan Claxton started “Isn’t It Grand” a few months ago to support families that are raising their grandkids or loved ones because of unforeseen circumstances
Although we had been meeting monthly, at this time we will communicate through emails, phone calls, texts or even zoom meetings
Joan Claxton is an employee of Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency as a Program Manager with the Early Childhood Programs
Isn’t It Grand is designed to support all families but is not affiliated with CLMCAA
More about “Isn’t It Grand: Because We Love Them”
Supporting, providing education and advocating for those raising grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family
We didn’t expect to raise our grandchildren, our nieces or nephews, our cousin’s baby. We love them and we want to help. We weren’t planning on any of this but we can’t turn away. Sound familiar?
Isn’t It Grand is there for you. We want to hear your stories, your concerns, your triumphs and your fears. We want to help you find answers to your questions regarding resources to assist you through this process. We want to advocate for your rights as a care-giver.
Addiction in its many forms has and continues to ravage families, homes and communities. Mental Health issues, when undiagnosed or untreated can put families and children at risk. Now, more than ever, children are being raised by grandparents and extended family. Some families are ready for the challenge, others are not. All of us can use the support of others in the same situation.
You are doing an amazing thing! You are stepping up, doing whatever it takes to help these children whose lives are so greatly affected. You are not alone. There are many who share this struggle with you and we are here to help!
